As a Kansan, raised on Americana and the clever but simplistic lyrics of John Prine and Gillian Welch, Giovanni writes about the unremarkable, the monotonous, the mundane: A sock without a match and pile of old shoes become a vivid and vulnerable narrative about anxiety and autonomy. From lonesome acoustic ballads to roaring walls of distortion the music embellishes the story, carefully cradling the lyrics in gentle ambience and whining steel strings.
