IFS: Polaroids On The Patio

Date

May 06 2021

Join us as IFS will host our first IRL outdoor meet-up of 2021!
What goes together better than instant film, vinyl records, a patio, and some live music!?! Especially as we have an early celebration of Edwin Land’s birthday, the Godfather of Polaroid Photography!
Every Thursday, Rubber Gloves hosts an event on their spacious, open-air patio — a “Bring Your Own Vinyl on the Patio” night where attendees can “enjoy a cold one while judging other people’s taste in music under the beautiful Texas stars.” So, we’ll piggy-back on their analog party with one of our own.
And, in addition to the vinyl playlist provided by those who attend, Kelly Upshaw of The Hope Trust will play a set just as the sun’s setting.
Also, Armand of Denton Camera Exchange will be shooting 8×10 Polaroid portraits on the patio (for $50 a session)!!! And bring your own cameras!!!!!
Masks are required to enter, and when indoors ordering drinks, but can be removed when seated on the patio, as well as for portraits.
RGRS will have a record player spinning outside and attendees provide the soundtrack — kind of like the analog version of taking over the jukebox at your favorite hangout. Add one of your records from your collection to their cue to spin for the night, and that earns you one free draft beer or mixed drink from the bar.
Also: Cheap drink specials. ($2 wells / $3 Tallboys / $4 Spiked SOCO)
Free to attend. All ages.
(But no free drinks for records brought by those marked under 21, obviously.)
