porous sonorous [showroom]

April 26 @ 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm

4/26 in the showroom

Denton-based, Wyoming-born artists Called Phillips and Chevy Kalpin perform Tongues, the theatre piece for voice and percussion originally written and staged in 1978 by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin.

Familiar, the duo of Marissa Rodriguez and Cody McPhail (ATOP, Dallas Ambient Music Nights), works through synth, voice, tape, and amplified sound to trace the emotional undercurrents of the everyday.

Rachel Weaver, Randall Minick, Trevor Mahaney, and Sarah Jay come together in a collaboration that intersects Python Potions and Wormsign: a dense weaving of synths and voices moving through potentially darker, ritual-inflected terrain.

Short Attention Span Cinema, Chad Withers’s program of lost and forgotten short films, will offer moving interludes throughout the evening.

porous sonorous is an artist-run concert series for other musics and further sounds, flowing sporadically and itinerantly across North Texas. It is shaped by a long-standing involvement with The Wild Detectives, forged from half the ashes of Molten Plains, and woven through shifting currents of past and present collaborations with fellow artists, organizers, and venues of different kinds.
