Molten Plains XXI

🌋 MARCH 27 🌋 Spring is sort of here and Molten Plains XXI is happening on the last Wednesday of March!

A Copenhagen-based two-saxophones-bass-drums multiverse quartet of Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen, Lena Watson, Tom Blancarte and Harry Kay. On tour from Chicago, guitarist Daniel Wyche is bringing his long-form multichannel piece Earthwork. Trio Glossia (Stefan Gonzalez, Matthew Frerck and Joshua Miller) will be joined by Austin guitar wizard Jonathan Horne, as their first guest ever. Bitches Set Traps is the feminist improvising trio of Elizabeth McNutt, Kourtney Newton, and Sarah Ruth Alexander.

Molten Plains is a monthly series of adventurous sounds and further music experiences.

TACTICAL MAYBE
A Denmark-based collective with global roots in the USA, Germany, Denmark, Mexico and South Korea. Their music presents a multiverse of possibilities navigated by a quatrologue, resulting in a pulsating expanse of actions and non-actions, pitches and textures, sounds and space. Louise is a Danish-American saxophonist, composer and a multi-instrumentalist who lived in Amsterdam, Berlin and New York. Lena is a saxophone player, composer and conductor. Blancarte is a bassist whose career started in New York City, as a member of various bands such as Seabrook Power Plant, The Gate and The Peter Evans Ensemble. Harry is a drummer researching new possibilities to transfer elements from traditional Korean music.

DANIEL WYCHE
A Chicago-based guitarist working with a wide range of physical preparations, extended techniques, and pedal instruments. Along with his solo guitar work, Daniel is involved in several collaborations, most notably the trio of Wyche, Mark Shippy (US Maple), and Ben Baker Billington, as well as new work with Patrick Shiroishi, Lake Mary, and many others. Earthwork, was released on American Dreams in 2021.  He has been a curator with the Elastic Arts Foundation in Chicago since 2013.
