Live Silent Film Score Double Feature w/ Pneumatic Tubes and Paul Slavens

April 17 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm

📽️APRIL 17 📽️AN EVENING OF CINEPHILIA

Live Silent Film Score Double Feature w/ Pneumatic Tubes and Paul Slavens

Join us Monday, April 17th for a night of live musical scores to two landmark silent films.

Pneumatic Tubes will be performing a live score to the influential Ukranian documentary Man With a Movie Camera. The experimental 1929 Soviet silent documentary film, directed by Dziga Vertov, presents urban life in Moscow, Kyiv, and Odesa during the late-1920s. From dawn to dusk Soviet citizens are shown at work and at play, and interacting with the machinery of modern life.

Paul Slavens and his band will be performing a live score to Charlie Chaplin’s silent masterpiece The Kid. The 1921 American silent comedy-drama film was written, produced, and directed by and stars Charlie Chaplin. This was Chaplin’s first full-length film as a director. It was a huge success and was the second-highest-grossing film in 1921. Now considered one of the greatest films of the silent era, we now have one of the greatest musicians of Denton live scoring the film!
