COMPACTOR is a set of obsolete machinery, operated since 2011 by an anonymous figure known as The Worker. The machinery’s sound resembles Industrial Rhythmic Noise and Power Electronics. The Worker never speaks, is always masked, and in a generic uniform, to emphasize dehumanization. Each Audio Document (and related Live Shifts) has a different subject and sonic focus, often some aspect of work, technology, and/or society. @compactornoise
